Enyimba head coach Yemi Olanrewaju has said the club will not let their fans down in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The nine-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions will take on Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso at Stade Mamadou Konate in Mali on Friday in the first leg of their tie.
“We don’t really have much information about them you know, but I know they must have been following us. This is Enyimba FC, I know what the club represents and stands for, which is winning,” Olanrewaju said in a preview of the tie with the Enyimba media team.
“You don’t win yesterday and you are celebrating and you forgot you have to win the next game. And this is the attitude and culture of the club.”
Two-time African champions Enyimba are in good form going into the tie, following their 3-1 victory over Heartland on matchday 1 of the 2024/2025 NPFL season in Owerri last Sunday.
The coach urged his players to be focused on the task at hand.
“I want the boys to know this is not the club you win one match and you are carried away,” he said.
“You must win always. So, we will go there, fight to represent the club and go for a good result,” he said.
Although Etoile Filante are based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the match will be played in Mali, where there is a standard facility.
