Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, registered an assist for Galatasaray on Saturday on his debut as they defeated Rizespor 5-0 in the Turkish Super League.
Osimhen provided the assist for Abdulkerim Bardakci to score the side’s second goal in the 25th minute of the encounter at RAMS Park.
The goal was initially credited to Osimhen but upon review it was determined that he did not have the last touch, so he was given the assist instead.
Osimhen featured for 90 minutes in the game but failed to get on the score sheet himself.
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Davidson Sanchez, Gabriel Sara, Osimhen’s former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens and Baris Yilmaz scored the other goals for Galatasaray.
Reigning African Footballer of the Year Osimhen completed his loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray days to Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic.
The 25-year-old came on as a substitute in the 3-0 thrashing of the Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo last Saturday to score Nigeria’s second goal.
He was also used as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against the Amavubi of Rwanda in Kigali three days later.
