Manchester United threw away a two-goal lead before rescuing a 3-3 draw against Porto in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, with Samuel Omorodion, the Spanish youth international with Nigerian heritage, scoring twice for the Portuguese side.
United raced to a two-goal lead in the first-half through Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, but Pepe halved the deficit before Omorodion equalised 11 minutes before half time.
The 20-year-old Spain U-21 striker completed his brace in the 50th minute to put Porto into the lead for the first time in the game.
It went from bad to worse for the English side nine minutes from time when captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off for his second yellow card of the night.
Substitute Harry Maguire headed home in the 91st minute to ensure the visitors earn their second draw in two games in the new format of the competition.
Galatasaray played for the first time in five matches in all competitions without Victor Osimhen and could only manage a 2-2 draw with RFS in Latvia. Dries Mertens and Yunus Akgun put the Turkish champions into a 2-0 lead in the first half but goals from Janis Ikaunieks and Lasha Odisharia meant both sides shared the spoils.
In Spain, Athletic Bilbao beat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 at San Mames, with goals from Inaki Williams and Oihan Sancet giving the Basque club their first win in the competition.
Rangers suffered a 4-1 loss at home to Olympique Lyon, with Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers stsrting for the Scottishside.
<Braces from former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette and Malick Fonana sealed the win for the French club. Fofana opened the scoring after 10 minutes but the hosts equalised through Tom Lawrence four minutes later.
Lacazette put his side ahead again in the 19th minute and got his double in the 45th minute. Fofana also scored his second 35 minutes from time for a comprehensive win.
In Italy, Lazio, who had Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru ochestrating their midfield, rained goals on Nice for an impressive 4-1 victory.
Pedro got things underway for the Serie A side after 20 minutes and Valentin Castellanos doubled the lead 15 minutes later. Jeremie Boga pulled a goal back for the visitors but Castellanos sealed his brace in the 53rd minute. Mattia Zaccagni put the game to bed in the 67th minute from the penalty spot.
In the other matches, Qarabag lost 2-1 at home to Malmo, while Slava Praha and Ajax Amsterdam played out a 1-1 draw at the Eden Arena in Czech Republic.
Dusan Tadic scored in the 71st minute to earn Fenerbahce a 1-1 draw at Twente, while Olympiacos defeated Braga 3-0 at home and Maccabi Tel Aviv lost 2-0 in front of their supporters against Midtjylland.
Tottenham Hotspur continued their impressive run in the competition with a 2-1 win over Ferencvaros, and PAOK recorded a shocking 1-0 defeat at home to 10-man FCSB.
AS Roma suffered the biggest upset of the night with a 1-0 defeat to Swedish club Elfsborg. Michael Baidoo scored the only goal of the game from the spot in the 44th minute.
Viktoria Plzen and Ludogorets played 0-0 draw just like Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodo/Glimt. Besiktas suffered a humiliating defeat at home against Eintracht Frankfurt who ran away with a 3-1 win.
Hoffenheim defeated Dynamo Kyiv 2-0, while Real Sociedad suffered a 2-1 loss at home against Anderlecht.
