Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has said Rangers would find it tough against Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 second leg clash at Ibrox next Thursday.
Dessers scored and also provided an assist as Rangers sealed a 3-1 win in the first leg in Turkey on Thursday and is looking ahead to the reverse fixture at home against the Turkish club coached by Jose Mourinho.
“Overall, I think we can be very happy. We handled them well. It will not be easy to handle them again next week but you see that we can hurt any team on the counterattack,” Dessers told uefa.com.
On how he expertly converted his opportunity to put Rangers 1-0 ahead, the Nigeria international added: “Its a very nice feeling to score in a stadium like this. For the first goal, I just saw the ball drop between the defender and the goalkeeper and that’s one of those moments as a striker when you have to be sharp.”
Dessers’ impressive scoring form would be good news to the Super Eagles coaching crew as they prepare for this month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
The three-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners have managed just four goals in four matches during the qualifying campaign.
