Nigerian football legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has picked himself as a better dribbler than former Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Okocha, now 51, dazzled the footballing world with his dribbling skills and breathtaking performances.
The former Super Eagles midfielder is widely considered as one of the best African players of all time, and was popular for his confidence, trickery with the ball, technique, creativity, flair, close control, and smooth dribbling skills.
In a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, he is asked by a content creator to speak until he hears a ‘better dribbler’ than him.
Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Cristiano Ronaldo, Florian Wirtz, Jadon Sancho, Jamal Musiala, Vinicius Junior, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar Junior and Messi were all mentioned, but Okocha remained silent.
“You were officially the best dribbler!” the interviewer said.
“Of course. I mean that was my strength you know,” the former Paris Saint-Germain star responded.
Okocka came to global limelight in 1992 when, as a young player for Eintracht Frankfurt, he dribbled past the entire Karlsruher defence, sat goalkeeper Oliver Kahn (who went to become a Germany and Bayern Munich legend) down, tying them in knots before scoring.
Even back when there was no social medal, the video of the goal became a sensation across the world.
Okocha never toned down his trickery as he went on to have a legenday career at international level, winning the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations with the Super Eagles and the 1996 Olympic gold with the Nigeria U-23s.
He also became a fan favourite at Paris Saint-Germain, Bolton Wanderers and Fenerbahce with his silky skills, and is still considered one of the most entertaining footballers of all time.
