Super Eagles stars Umar Sadiq and Samuel Chukwueze were both on target on Sunday night, but with mixed fortunes.
Valencia striker Sadiq struck twice as his side drew 3-3 at Osasuna in their LaLiga clash, while winger Chukwueze scored AC Milan’s only goal as they fell to a third straight Serie A defeat, losing 2-1 at home to Lazio.
Sadiq, on loan at Valencia from Real Sociedad, scored in each half at Osasuna, the first goal to give his side a 2-1 lead, the second three minutes from time to rescue a point.
The 28-year-old Nigeria international had scored only once in five LaLiga fixtures for Valencia since joining them on loan in January before Sunday’s brace.
The point from Sunday’s draw moved Valencia up to 18th in LaLiga, still in the relegation zone but just goal difference from safety, while Osasuna are comfortable in 11th.
In Italy, Chukwueze came off the bench in the 70th minute to pull 10-man Milan level 14 minutes later at San Siro, but a stoppage time penalty by Pedro gave Lazio victory.
Sunday’s goal was Chukwueze’s third in 21 Serie A appearances this season, 12 of them as a substitute.
Milan slipped to ninth in the Serie A table with the defeat, nine points adrift of fourth place, which is incidentally occupied by Lazio.
Both Sadiq and Chukwueze could be in Eric Chelle’s first Super Eagles squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe this month.
