Spanish women’s second division club Deportivo La Coruna Abanca have signed Super Falcons of Nigeria forward Blessing Nkor.
Deportivo, also known as Deportivo Abanca, announced the signing of the 21-year-old on their website on Tuesday.
“Dépor ABANCA strengthens its offensive part with the arrival until the end of the season of Blessing Nkor,” the club stated.
“She arrived from Pyramids FC and in the 2023/2024 season played in Turkey’s top flight with Gaziantep Asya Spor, where she scored 12 goals.
“An international with Nigeria in the youth categories, she made her debut last November with the senior team in a match against France.”
Nkor was in the Super Falcons starting line-up in the friendly against France before she was replaced in the 46th minute as the nine-time African champions lost 2-1 to their hosts.
Founded in 2016, Deportivo women’s team achieved promotion to Primera División (first division) for the first time ever in May 2019.
Their first season in the Primera División was cut short in May 2020, due to the Spanish Football Federation choosing to suspend non-professional football during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the cancellation, Deportivo finished the season in fourth place.
In the 2021/2022 season, Deportivo finished 15th and were relegated to the second division.
