Super Eagles winger Moses Simon registered his eighth assist in Ligue 1 this season as Nantes defeated visiting Lille 1-0 on Saturday.
The points from the victory pulled Nantes further away from the relegation zone as they are now 14th in the league table, six points clear of danger.
Simon, featuring in his 24th French top flight appearance this season, set up substitute Mostafa Mohamed for the only goal of the match seven minutes from time.
Nantes had Jean-Charles Castelletto sent off with a straight red card nine minutes before Simon’s assist.
Simon’s involvement and impressive performance for Nantes will be good news for the Super Eagles coaching crew after Nantes head coach, Antoine Kombouare, had raised concerns over the winger’s ankle.
Meanwhile, Nigerian striker David Okereke scored the only goal that secured Gaziantep a 1-0 home win against Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig, also on Saturday.
Okereke struck in the 52nd minute to seal the victory and help Gaziantep temporarily move up to sixth in the league table.
The 27-year-old, who is on loan at Gaziantep from Italian Serie B club Cremonense, was later substituted off in the 82nd minute.
He has now scored seven goals and provided two assists in 21 matches in the Turkish Super Lig this season, two of the goals coming in his last three appearances for Gaziantep, who have won their last three matches.
