Saudi Arabia Pro League club Al Nassr have expressed keen interest in Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface.
According to European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Nassr have started official negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Boniface, in order to beat off competition from English Premier League clubs.
The Italian journalist reported on Monday that Al Nassr want to bring in Boniface as a replacement for Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca, who is set to join Turkish club Fenerbahce.
If Al Nassr pull off the Boniface deal, the Super Eagles striker would become teammates with Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadie Mane.
Sky Sports Germany added that Boniface recently extended his Leverkusen contract until 2029, and the club would demand at least €50m for the Nigeria international.
Boniface was named as the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Season in 2023/2024 after impressing during his debut season for Bayer Leverkusen as they went on to win their first-ever German title unbeaten.
Aside from emerging as league champions, Boniface also helped Leverkusen win the DFB-Pokal and reach the UEFA Europa League final.
The Nigeria international has scored six goals and has provided one assist in 10 Bundesliga appearances this season while struggling with injuries.
Meanwhile, Al Nassr have also expressed interest in Aston Villa’s Colombian forward Jhon Duran.
However, Villa’s reluctance to entertain offers for Duran has persuaded the Saudi side to focus on Boniface.
Earlier in the January transfer window, Villa reportedly rejected a £59m bid from Premier League rivals West Ham United for Duran.
