Victor Osimhen’s overhead kick goal for Galatasaray against Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday has been ranked as one of two overhead kick goals in world football history to exceed 2.30 metres in height.
According to Turkish newspaper, NTV, Osimhen’s stunning goal at the Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadı over the weekend in Galatasaray’s 3-0 win came from a height of 2.32 metres to rank second to Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead kick effort from a height of 2.38 metres for Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Juventus in 2018.
The Super Eagles star came from the bench to replace Mauro Icardi in the 79th minute of the encounter after recovering from a muscle injury. He overpowered his marker before launching a powerful overhead kick into the net after a free-kick was floated into the box by Hakim Ziyech.
The 25-year-old had sustained the injury in Galatasaray’s 3-3 clash with Kasimpasa on September 28.
He missed Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory over Alanyaspor before the international break and Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights, which the Super Eagles won 1-0 in Uyo.
Osimhen has scored three goals and provided four assists in five matches for the Turkish giants since joining on loan from Napoli in September.
