Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed he will return from injury after the international break.
Osimhen sustained a thigh strain on September 28, during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa in the Super Lig at the RAMS Park. The 25-year-old watched from the stands on Sunday, as the club continued their unbeaten start to the 2024/2025 league season with a 1-0 win over Alanyaspor 1-0 at home.
According to Fanatik, Osimhen said: “after the international break,” when asked about a possible return date.
Osimhen has made an impressive impact at Galatasaray since joining on loan this summer. He has contributed two goals and three assists in four matches across all competitions.
Due to the his injury, the 25-year-old was omitted from Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the back-to-back 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya. Interim head coach Austin Eguavoen named three centre forwards Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Boniface and Taiwo Awoniyi for the matches.
Osimhen scored in Nigeria’s 3-0 victory over the Republic of Benin in the first game of the qualifiers on September 7.
