Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has insisted that his assists have been crucial for Galatasaray despite his lack of goals.
The reigning African Player of the Year has a reputation of being a prolific scorer but is yet to get off the mark since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli early this month.
Instead, he has registered three assists in three games, including on Wednesday night in the 3-1 UEFA Europa League victory over PAOK.
Osimhen suggested that the Turkish Super Lig is tougher than how people perceive it.
“In the Turkish league, they play with high intensity. I think it is also a difficult one. It is important for me to come into the team where they are full of quality to try to help the team,” Osimhen explained in an interview with CBS Sports after the win over PAOK.
“Of course, I’m still looking forward to having my first goal, but my contribution so far for the team has been helpful and decisive.
“So for me, it is important to start with. Today’s game as well, bigger respect to PAOK for their resilience. They gave us a tough time and we deserved this win and I’m happy we got it.”
The 25-year-old Nigeria international arrived in Turkey with huge expectations, having produced 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances at Napoli.
