Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was one of the scorers on Sunday as Galatasaray thrashed Eyupspor 5-1 to cement their position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table.
The Nigeria international struck in the 71st minute to give Galatasaray a 3-0 lead, taking the game beyond the hosts.
Osimhen, who is on loan from Napoli for the season, has now taken his impressive tally for the Turkish champions to 31 goals and six assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
In the Super Lig, the 26-year-old centre forward has registered 22 goals and five assists in 26 matches.
Alvaro Morara came off the bench to score twice in Sunday’s clash as Galatasaray extended their lead over second-placed Fenerbahce to five points with five rounds of games to go, while Eyupspor are fifth.
Roland Sallai began the rout in the 29th minute, assisted by Osimhen, before Lucas Torreira doubled Galatasaray’s lead 11 minutes into the second half.
Osimhen got his shot off inside a crowded box to make it 3-0, but Lucas Clarro cut the deficit for Eyupspor 11 minutes from time.
Morata made sure there would be no late fightback with his double in the final three minutes of regulation time.
