Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was once again the star man as Galatasaray took another step towards retaining their Turkish Super Lig title on Saturday.
Osimhen, on loan from Napoli, struck twice in the 4-1 home win over Sivasspor to add to his previous braces for the champions, taking his impressive tally this season to 33 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
In the Super Lig, the 26-year-old Nigeria international has registered 24 goals and five assists in 27 matches as Galatasaray lead the table, eight points ahead of second-placed Fenerbahce, whose game in hand is against Besiktas on Sunday.
Sivasspor, who once had Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa on their payroll, are 16th, battling to avoid relegation.
Meanwhile, another prominent Nigeria international, Super Falcons captain Chiamaka Nnadozie, was in superb form as her club Paris FC won the Women’s French Cup.
Nnadozie, who is the current two-time African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, kept a clean sheet in the Cup final against favourites Paris Saint-Germain and then proceeded to save two penalties in the shootout.
As Nnadozie stopped the final penalty to earn Paris FC a 5-4 shootout victory after a 0-0 draw.
Afterwards, her teammates rushed towards her and buried her under a pile of celebrating bodies as they won their first Coupe de France in 19 years.
