Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has rated Super Eagles defender Ola Aina as the No.1 right-back in the English Premier League this season.
Aina has been key for Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest this term as they stay in the hunt for a top four finish, with the modest club currently third in the table.
Aside from taking care of business in the defence, Aina has also contributed in the attacking third, registering two goals and one assist in 25 appearances in the Premier League this season.
“For me I believe Ola Aina is the best right-back in the Premier League this season,” 2002 FIFA World Cup star Udeze, who played in England with West Brom, said on Brila FM on Tuesday.
Udeze, who was also a top left-back in his playing days, urged the former Chelsea player to consider quitting Forest if a big offer comes in the summer.
“I expect him to leave Nottingham Forest this at the end of the season, if I’m Aina and a club like Manchester City come for me I will leave,” he added.
Meanwhile, Aina’s current contract is set to expire this summer, but it includes an automatic one-year extension clause that Forest can trigger.
According to reports, Forest are likely to exercise this option and are keen to retain the Nigeria full-back beyond that.
