Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, has hinted he could stay at Nottingham Forest beyond this season, amid reports the club are planning to offer him a fresh deal.
Aina is having an impressive start to the 2023/2024 English Premier League season, starting all the matches for Forest so far. The Nigeria international was brilliant for club in their 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield last weekend.
According to Nottingham Post on Friday, BBC Radio Nottinghamshire asked the versatile defender whether negotiations are ongoing between him and Forest following reports of an offer.
“All I can say is I am really happy at Forest,” the full-back replied.
“Fantastic club, I feel at home and we’re just building. I’m building, the club’s building. Let’s just see what happens in the future.”
Speaking on his strong display against Liverpool last Saturday, Aina said: “It [the mood around the club] is really good, you know, we’re just building from last season,” he added about life at the City Ground.
“Last season was difficult at times but the mood and energy around the club was still positive and I feel like we’ve built on that. There is definitely a good feeling around the club because we’ve started well and we just want to build on each performance every week.
“We’ve always been together. Going through those difficulties last season has helped bring the team together, but even without those difficulties I think we’re a close-knit team and it does show on the pitch. We’re ready to fight for each other and do that extra bit of each other.”
