Rivers United cut Remo Stars’ lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) to five points on Sunday with a 1-0 victory in Port Harcourt.
David Sholumade struck in the 84th minute to take Rivers United to within five points of leaders Remo Stars, who have a game in hand.
In Aba, third-placed Abia Warriors fell to a 2-1 defeat to their neighbours Enyimba, who climbed to eighth.
Ijoma Desouza gave Abia Warriors the lead on 20 minutes but Kalu Nweke drew the home team level with 10 minutes left in the first half.
Joseph Atule netted for the People’s Elephant in the 66th minute to complete the turnaround.
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Ikorodu City.
It is now back-to-back draws for 3SC while Ikorodu City are winless in their last three fixtures, recording two draws and one defeat.
Following the draw, the Oluyole Warriors maintain fourth place in the table, two spots above Ikorodu City.
Also on Sunday, bottom club Lobi Stars halted their five-match losing streak with a 1-1 draw with fellow relegation battlers Sunshine Stars, who are 19th.
In other week 32 fixtures, Plateau United and Kwara United played a 0-0 draw, Niger Tornadoes beat El Kanemi Warriors 2-0, Akwa United lost 2-0 at Nasarawa United, and Katsina United were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United.
