Remo Stars edged out Plateau United 1-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week 27 clash in Ikenne on Sunday to take a step closer to winning their first-ever title.
Samson Olasupo was the hero for the league leaders as his 74th minute strike secured the three points.
Remo Stars are now 12 points ahead of both Rivers United and Shooting Stars Sports Club, who are closest to them in the league table.
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will entertain Rivers United in Ibadan on Monday.
The defeat leaves Plateau United in 16th, just one place outside the relegation zone.
In Lafia, Enyimba defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 to end a run of back-to-back games without a win (one defeat, one draw).
Joseph Atule’s 62nd minute goal helped his side seal the win.
The People’s Elephant rose up to eighth place while Tornadoes are ninth.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle was in attendance as Kano Pillars defeated Enugu Rangers 2-1.
Pillars have stretched their unbeaten run to five matches, recording four wins and one draw.
Rangers got themselves in front when were awarded a penalty which Bashir Usman converted on 33 minutes.
Veteran NPFL star Rabiu Ali restored parity as he also dispatched the penalty awarded to Pillars on 42 minutes.
Jerry Alex then netted the winning goal for Pillars in the 60th minute.
Pillars are fourth in the standings, one spot ahead of champions Rangers.
In other week 27 results, Ikorodu City beat Heartland 2-0, Bayelsa United edged out Bendel Insurance 2-1 and Abia Warriors battled to a 1-1 home draw with Nasarawa United.
