Remo Stars returned to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table on Sunday after their 1-0 win over Bendel Insurance in Ikenne.

Dela Akorli’s goal in the 43rd of the game helped preserve the club’s 100 percent win rate in their home matches this season as they took their points tally to 18, one more than Rivers United, who have a tricky trip to Niger Tornadoes on Monday.

Bayelsa United, handled by former Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso, recorded their second win of the season by edging out Emmanuel Amuneke‘s Heartland 1-0 at the Samson Siasia Sports Stadium in Yenagoa.

Rabiu Abdullahi’s strike in the 54th minute was enough to earn the home side the win which moved them out of the relegation zone.

El-Kanemi Warriors maintained their unbeaten run this season, beating Enyimba 1-0 at home through Usman Abbas’ goal in first-half added time.

Enyimba have now failed to win any of their last three matches, with back-to-back draws preceding the defeat in Maiduguri.

Kwara United secured an important point on the road on Sunday, after they were forced to a 1-1 draw by Kano Pillars.

The Afonja Warriors took the lead through Issa Gata four minutes into the second half but the hosts fought back in the 56th minute through Mohammed Zulkifilu, who scored off an Ahmed Musa assist.

Plateau United suffered a 3-1 defeat to
Abia Warriors, who came from behind to earn the three points.

The visitors broke the deadlock five minutes before half-time through Sadiq Abubakar but the host struck thrice through Sunday Megwo, Ojonugwa Adejoh, and Paul Samson.

Sunshine Stars recovered from their 3-0 bashing in the hands of Kwara United last mid-week with a 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United in Akure.

Opeoluwa Olufemi’s 17th minute strike was enough to earn them their fourth win in eight matches this season. The victory moved Kennedy Boboye’s team to fourth in the league.
