Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) lost 2-0 to Kwara United in a rescheduled week 20 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday in Ilorin.
The defeat ended 3SC’s eight-match unbeaten run and leaves them eight points behind leaders Remo Stars in the league table.
Going into Wednesday’s encounter, the Oluyole Warriors were unbeaten in their last five league meetings with Kwara United.
Kwara United took the lead through Kabiru Muhammed in the 22nd minute off an assist by Ojifinni Abdullahi.
Abdullahi then doubled Kwara United’s lead 12 minites into the second half as the Afonja Warriors returned to winning ways.
In another rescheduled week 20 tie in Benin City, Enyimba fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bendel Insurance.
It is back-to-back defeats for Enyimba who have only managed one win in their last five fixtures (three defeats, one draw).
Kayode Oke’s 55th minute strike was enough to earn Insurance the three points, four days after their defeat at 3SC.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, Kano Pillars edged out El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 to end a run of three straight league games without a win.
Veteran forward Rabiu Ali opened the scoring in the 62nd minute after converting from the penalty spot.
El Kanemi were also awarded a penalty which Umar Al Amin scored on 65 minutes.
But in the 90th minute, Rashid Alhassan netted the winning goal for Kano Pillars.
