A brace from Abba Adam earned Kano Pillars a 2-0 win against Enyimba in a rescheduled matchday 14 Nigeria Premier Football League fixture in Kano on Thursday.
The result means Enyimba have not beaten Kano Pillars in the NPFL in Kano since a 2-1 victory on May 4, 2016, which was a rescheduled matchday 7 tie.
Ahmed Musa was in Kano Pillars’ starting line-up while his former Super Eagles teammate Brown Ideye came on in the 62nd minute for Enyimba.
Adam broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. The striker received the ball from Ibrahim Inuwa, beat his marker and slotted home.
Adam got on the score sheet again in the 72nd minute to make it 2-0 in favour of Pillars.
The win took Pillars above Enyimba to seventh place in the NPFL table, with the People’s Elephant one spot below but with a game in hand.
Meanwhile, the second round of the 2024-2025 NPFL season will resume on Saturday.
Remo Stars are top of the standings with 36 points, with Rivers United second on 34 points and Shooting Stars third one point further adrift.
