Rivers United will hope to stay unbeaten in these early stages of the season as they face a tough test away to Lobi Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash on Saturday.
Under new head coach, former Super Eagles boss Finidi George, Rivers United have managed one win and a draw in their first two NPFL matches so far.
The Pride of Rivers played 0-0 against Bendel Insurance on matchday 1, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, and recorded a 3-1 victory over Heartland at home last week.
Their hosts, Lobi Stars, will target their first win of the season after earning just one point from their first two fixtures of the new campaign.
The Benue side were forced to a 0-0 draw by Akwa United in the opening fixture of the 2024/2025 season, and their trip to Enyimba on matchday 2 was postponed, due to the Aba-based side’s CAF Confederations Cup clash with Etoile Filante.
In the other NPFL fixture on Saturday, Nasarawa United will host El-Kanemi Warriors at the Lafia Township Stadium.
Nasarawa United have drawn their first two matches and would hope to make things more difficult for the visitors, whose matchday 2 game against Kwara United was shifted due to the devastating flood that hit Maiduguri recently.
