Four of the five Nigeria Premier Football League matches on Sunday ended in draws as Shooting Stars Sports Club, also known as 3SC, failed to earn their first victory of the campaign and Bayelsa United drew 1-1 at home to Kano Pillars.
3SC hosted the final match of the evening with a 1-1 draw against Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
Victor Dawa put the visitors in the lead in the 39th minute but Uche Onwuasonoya pulled the Oluyole Warriors level in first-half added time as they played their second draw in two matches.
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa United forced Kano Pillars to a 1-1 draw at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
Bayelsa United, who were beaten 3-0 in their first game of the season away at Sunshine Stars in Akure last week, fell behind four minutes before half-time, with Auwalu Malam netting for the visitors.
The hosts were back on level terms just before the hour mark, Rabiu Abdullahi producing the goal.
In Uyo, Akwa United recorded their second consecutive draw, coming from behind to hold Abia Warriors 1-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Abia Warriors, who lost their opening fixture of the 2024/2025 season 2-0 to Remo Stars at home last week, took the lead in Uyo through Adejoh Ojonugwa after just four minutes.
The visitors were almost running away with the three points until Akwa United were awarded a late penalty, which Edidiong Ezekiel converted five minutes into stoppage time.
Both sides are yet to win this season after two matches.
In Katsina, hosts Katsina United scored in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory over Bendel Insurance.
The visitors from Benin City took the lead after 17 minutes, with James Orosanye scoring, but the hosts drew level five minutes later through Bello Lookman.
Katsina United then snatched all three points as <span;>Azeez Falolu struck in added time.
Football returned to Minna for the first time in four years on Sunday at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium as home side Niger Tornadoes were held to a 0-0 draw by Nasarawa United.
