Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) played out a 2-2 draw with Lobi Stars in a week 25 clash of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Ibadan on Wednesday, missing the chance to cut Remo Stars’ lead at the top.
The Oluyole Warriors, who are now winless in their last three games, are in second place, seven points adrift of Remo Stars who have a game in hand, while bottom side Lobi Stars have failed to win any of their last five matches.
Joshua Akpan opened the scoring for 3SC at the Lekan Salami Stadium on 18 minutes but Ossy Martins equalised for Lobi 16 minutes later.
Martins got on the score sheet again in first-half stoppage time to put the visiting Lobi 2-1 ahead but Sadiq Ibrahim drew the hosts level seven minutes after the break.
Martins was then shown a straight red card in the 76th minute.
In Uyo, Rivers United also dropped points following their 1-1 draw with Akwa United.
Rivers United scored eight minutes into the match through Ubong Friday, but hosts Akwa United, back on level terms through Mare Abson seven minutes into the second half.
Rivers United remain in third place, while Akwa United are 19th.
In Lagos, Ikorodu United defeated Plateau United 2-1, with new Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle in attendance.
Ikorodu City scored two late goals — Olatunji Abdulmalik in the 74th minute and Tosin Oyedokun six minutes later — to secure the comeback win after Albert Hillary had given the visitors the lead in the 38th minute.
Kano Pillars held Sunshine Stars to a 1-1 draw and Niger Tornadoes edged out Heartland 2-1.
Also, El Kanemi Warriors and Bendel Insurance settled for a 0-0 draw, Abia Warriors beat faltering champions Enugu Rangers 1-0 and Bayelsa United played 2-2 with visiting Nasarawa United.
