Sevilla have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Akor Adams from French club Montpellier.
The 24-year-old will be linking up with his compatriot Chidera Ejuke Ejuke, with Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho reportedly on his way out.
Adams is believed to have cost Sevilla around €5.5 million on a permanent transfer.
“An agreement has been reached with Montpellier HSC for the signing of Akora Adams. The Nigeiran striker arrives after playing 15 games for the French side this season, scoring three goals and getting three assists,” Sevilla stated on Monday night.
“Adams joined Montpellier in August 2023 from the Norweigan club Lillestrøm SK. In his debut season in France, he was a regular making 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring ten goals and making two assists.
“Before that, he first moved to Europe in the summer of 2018 from Jamba Football Academy in his native Nigeria to Sogndal IL in the second tier of Norweigan football. In three and a half seasons he made 56 appearances, scoring 16 goals and getting six assists.
“His performances caught the eye of Lillestrøm SK in the Eliteserien in the top division of Norweigan football for whom he signed in 2022. In his first season, he scored 11 goals in 33 games and made his debut in European competitions in a UEFA Conference League qualifier against SJK Seinajoki of Finland.
“The following summer after scoring a remarkable 17 goals in 17 games and leading the European Golden Shoe standings, he accepted an offer from Montpellier. Internationally, he played twice for Nigeria Under-20s at the 2019 Under-20 World Cup held in Poland.”
