French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco have been linked with a January transfer move for Genk’s Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare.
According to Foot Mercato, Arokodare is a Monaco target, along with Sturm Graz’s Danish forward Mika Biereth.
Monaco are keen to sign Biereth after former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun got injured.
Biereth has been in impressive form since joining Sturm Graz from Arsenal last summer for €5 million, scoring 14 goals in 25 games.
Monaco and Biereth have reportedly reached personal terms, but the Austrian club’s hefty €20 million asking price has stalled negotiations.
Due to the impasse, Monaco have turned their attention to Arokodare, who is enjoying a prolific season with Genk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League this season.
The 24-year-old Nigerian is currently the top scorer in the Belgian top flight with 14 goals and six assists in 22 matches across all competitions.
Reports suggest that Genk could be open to selling Arokodare for around €15 million— three times the fee they paid to sign him from Amiens in 2021.
Arokodare’s impressive form in front of goal has propelled Genk to the top of the league table in Belgium.
