Manchester United have begun negotiations with the entourage of Victor Osimhen, Foot Mercato has reported.
The 26-year-old Super Eagles star is currently on a season-long loan spell with Galatasaray from Napoli and has been in brilliant form all through the campaign.
Osimhen has scored 33 goals and made eight assists in 37 games in all competitions as Galatasaray are on course for the Turkish Super Lig and Cup double.
The Nigeria international is not expected to be at Napoli next season and has been linked with several clubs, including Manchester United.
Foot Mercato claimed on Tuesday that Osimhen is keen on joining the English Premier League, and Manchester United may be one of the only clubs to meet his €12m per year wage demands.
Paris St-Germain, one of the clubs persistently mentioned, are seemingly out of the running to sign Osimhen, as Manchester United are looking to change their attacking options with both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggling so far.
The outlet added that Manchester United drew up a four-man shortlist to identify their next striker.
Among these names are Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Sporting Portugal’s Victor Gyokeres. The Swede appears to be Manchester United’s priority, mainly in the event of Champions League qualification, which would be obtained by winning the Europa League.
Foot Mercato added that if Manchester United and Osimhen’s camp reach a deal, the English giants will have to cough up €75m to Napoli as transfer fee.
