Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has debunked reports linking him with a move to Fenerbahce’s rivals Galatasaray when his contract expires in the summer of 2025.
Osayi-Samuel, who has been a key player for Fenerbahce since moving to the club in 2021, is in the final months of his current contract.
The 26-year-old has reportedly been in negotiations with the club over a contract extension but no breakthrough is being made.
The Nigeria full-back will be free to talk to other clubs in January 2025, if no agreement is reached between his camp and the Turkish outfit.
Reports in Turkey had claimed that his agent Steven Beck told Fenerbahce’s sporting director Mario Branco that Galatasaray offered his client €2.5 million per-season and would not settle for anything less if he would sign a new deal at the club.
But according to Fanatik on Wednesday, the former Queens Park Rangers player said in a Twitch broadcast that he would leave Turkey if he is unable to reach an agreement on a new deal with his club.
“I don’t know where they come up with these figures. I have never asked for anything,” Osayi-Samuel was quoted as saying.
“I will never betray Fenerbahçe, I will never play for another team in Turkey.”
Osayi-Samuel has made eight appearances for the club this season, providing one assist.
Norwich City, Lens and Olympique Marseille are said to be interested in signing the versatile defender in the January transfer window.
