Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has passed his medical tests at Middlesbrough and is set to join the English Championship club on loan.
Sky Sports reported that the Nigeria international had the medical on Monday morning and would complete the move ahead of the Monday night transfer deadline.
Also, the Northern Echo reported that Middlesbrough agreed the terms of a loan deal with Sevilla that will see Iheanacho move to the Riverside for the remainder of the season, with Boro paying a significant proportion of the former Leicester City star’s wages.
Also, discussions are understood to be ongoing about whether a clause for a permanent transfer will be included as part of the deal.
Iheanacho is seen as a possible short-term replacement for Côte d’Ivoire international Emmanuel Latte Lath, who is set to complete his move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Atlanta United having travelled to the United States at the end of last week.
Boro have accepted a financial package from Atlanta worth around £22m.
Iheanacho scored 61 goals in 232 appearances for Leicester before joining Sevilla last summer.
However, the 28-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the Spanish top flight, scoring three goals in 11 outings for Sevilla, with all his goals coming in the Copa del Rey.
