Eight players have been nominated for the English Premier League Player of the Month award for August, including Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah.
The other nominees are Cole Palmer, Bryan Mbeumo, Amadou Onana, David Raya and Danny Welbeck.
Manchester City striker Haaland is currently the top scorer in the league with seven goals in three matches, the most a player has ever netted in a team’s first three Premier League fixtures of a campaign.
Chelsea playmaker Palmer has scored one goal and made three assists, the joint-most in the league, while Arsenal winger Saka, who turned 23 today, has the same numbers.
Egypt and Liverpool forward Salah scored two goals and made one assist in August. His strike against Ipswich was his league-leading ninth goal on the opening weekend of a Premier League season.
On his part, Aston Villa’s new central midfielder Onana scored two goals in his first three matches, equalling his goal tally from the whole of 2023/2024 season, while Cameroon and Brentford forward Mbeumo has scored three goals.
Arsenal goalkeeper Raya conceded only one goal in three games and made nine saves, while Welbeck netted two goals and made one assist for unbeaten Brighton.
Votes from fans will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to determine the winner of the prize, who will be revealed next week.
