Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is capable of hurting his team.
City host Fulham in the English Premier League on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, and Iwobi has been one of the key players for the London club since his arrival from Everton last year.
Although he has one goal and an assist in six league matches so far this season, the Nigeria international has been one of the danger men under coach Marco Silva.
Fulham have not lost in the league since their opening day defeat at Manchester United and Guardiola suggested it would be a tough game for his team.
“Only record I see is the last six games, since the first defeat against [Manchester] United. They didn’t lose. The best moment for Fulham, I will say this season,” Guardiola said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.
“Marco Silva is already a few years there in London. They bought interesting players there, especially Andersen, experienced guys so always at home especially create problems in the first-half.
They have a lot of weapons, speed. Iwobi, I have never seen him in the form that he is playing now. Adama always creates problems. Jimenez is back. Always has been tough, I am concerned with what they do, not what they did in the past,” he said at the pre-match press conference on Friday.
The 53-year-old’s contract at City expires at the end of the season and Guardiola has remained tight-lipped about his future.
“They have to bring me the bill I have to pay for the banner. I don’t want to spend money for that reason. What can I say? Thank you so much, I fell in love since the first day I arrived here, lets see. When it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen,” he said while reacting to fans making banners asking him to stay.
Guardiola also confirmed that Kevin De Bruyne, Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb and Rodri all remain sidelined and will miss the game against Fulham through injuries.
