A Galatasaray board member, Rasim Zaimoglu, has made a proposal for their own fans to raise money in a bid to make Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen’s transfer permanent.
The Nigeria international is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli and has been in superb scoring form.
The 26-year-old Osimhen bagged his first hat-trick for the club in their 4-0 win against Antalyaspor on Friday, taking his tally to 20 goals and four assists in 22 league appearances this season.
Galatasaray are keen to sign Osimhen on a permanent basis when his loan spell ends in the summer.
Various proposals have therefore been presented on how Galatasaray could raise the cash to pay his reported release clause of €75 million.
In a statement on GS TV (via Daily Record) Zaimoglu said: “If everyone contributes just $1, we can raise $35 million. If everyone contributes $2, we can raise $70 million! We must keep V Osimhen at Galatasaray.”
Osimhen was reportedly on the verge of joining Chelsea or Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli last August before ending up at Galatasaray in a last-ditch move in early September.
He had been kept out of Napoli’s first team plans and was not given a squad number for the 2024-2025 season as new head coach Antonio Conte signed Romelu Lukaku as a direct replacement.
