Galatasaray coach Okay Buruk has laid to rest speculation regarding a potential move for Fenerbahce defender Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Super Eagles star Osayi-Samuel is in the final year of his contract at Galatasaray’s fierce rivals Fenerbahce and has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, including Queens Park Rangers, Lille and Lens.
Although Fenerbahce have reportedly reopened negotiations with him after talks stalled initially due to his wage demands, the Super Eagles star continues to be linked with an exit.
Fenerbahce‘s rivals Galatasaray, where Osayi-Samuel’s national teammate Victor Osimhen currently plays on loan, have also been reported to be interested in the right-back.
However, speaking on Friday ahead of his side’s trip to Antalyaspor in the Super Lig, Buruk dismissed the rumours.
“So far, we have had no contact or talks with Bright Osayi-Samuel. We are not currently working on a transfer,” the coach said according to TV100.
According to reports, Fenerbahce and Osayi-Samuel are not close to reaching an agreement on a contract extension. The 26-year-old is demanding €2.5million per season to stay at the club beyond next summer but the Istanbul-based outfit are reportedly proposing €1.8million.
The versatile defender has missed the last five league matches for Fenerbahce due to an injury. He recovered just before the international break and is expected to feature for Jose Mourinho’s side against Samsunspor on Sunday.
