The Flamingos of Nigeria have booked their place in the final qualifying round of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after completing a 5-1 aggregate win over South Africa.
The Nigerian ladies won 2-0 in Ikenne-Remo on Saturday to seal passage after last weekend’s 3-1 victory in Pretoria, South Africa.
Harmony Chidi and Aisha Animashaun scored in each half for the Flamingos in Ikenne-Remo as Bankole Olowookere’s side
seek to return to the tournament where they reached the quarter-finals the last time out.
South Africa resisted the Flamingos until the 37th minute when Chidi, who also scored in the first leg, struck.
Animashaun made sure of victory nine minutes after the break as the Flamingos eased into the final round of the qualifying race.
The Flamingos will face Botswana or Algeria in the final qualification round, set for next month.
