Former Flying Eagles of Nigeria striker Muhamed Tijani featured for struggling Plymouth Argyle on Sunday as they produced the biggest shock of the English FA Cup fourth round by beating Liverpool 1-0 at Home Park.
Tijani, who was a member of the Flying Eagles squad that competed in the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, was brought on in the 72nd minute.
The 24-year-old joined Plymouth on loan from Czech Republic side Slavia Prague last July.
Ryan Hardie was the hero for the English second-tier’s bottom team as he converted a 53rd minute penalty after Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot handled the ball inside his box.
Plymouth also accounted for the exit of Brentford in the FA Cup third round last month.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis was on the losing side as he made his debut for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship side’s 2-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday.
It was Dennis’ first competitive match since April 27, 2024 when he featured for Watford in a 1-0 win against Sunderland.
The 27-year-old was named in Blackburn’s starting line-up against Wolves and played for 66 minutes.
First-half goals from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha were enough to send Wolves through to the fifth round.
It is now back-to-back defeats for Blackburn who have won just one of their last five fixtures (four defeats).
