Everton have fired their manager Sean Dyche after less than two years in charge at Goodison Park.
“Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect,” the club stated on Thursday evening.
“Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club.
“The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course.
“Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis.”
The 53-year-old Englishman’s sacking was announced just hours before Everton are due to host League One side Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.
Right-back Coleman and former left-back Baines have made more than 800 Everton appearances between them.
The Toffees were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth on Saturday and are 16th in the English Premier League, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
They failed to register a shot on target at Vitality Stadium and have won just three of 19 games in the league this season.
