Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers’ superb strike for Rangers against Manchester United in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League matchday 7 fixture has been nominated for the Goal of the Day award.
UEFA announced Dessers as one of the four nominees on their Europa League X account.
The other three shortlisted are Milot Rashica of Besiktas, Can Uzun of Eintracht Frankfurt and Midtjylland’s Dario Osorio.
Dessers, who was introduced into the game on 71 minutes, thought he had earned a point for Rangers with two minutes left.
The Nigeria international brilliantly controlled a long pass from his half, then hit a low left-foot strike which flew past Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
But United captain Bruno Fernandes slotted home the winner in the 92nd minute off a cross by Lisandro Martinez.
The winner of the Goal of the Day will be decided by fans votes.
Dessers has now scored two goals in seven games in this season’s Europa League.
Also, he has scored 14 goals in 33 games in all competitions this season.
