Liverpool restored their seven points lead over Arsenal in the English Premier League title race with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah continued his impressive scoring run as he doubled his side’s lead (his league-leading 23rd goal this season) after Luis Diaz had opened the scoring.
The Egypt international has now scored in six consecutive games for Arne Slot’s men.
Also, Salah’s strike against Wolves is his 101st in the Premier League at Anfield, level with Wayne Rooney’s tally for Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Only Thierry Henry (114 at Highbury) and Sergio Agüero (106 at the Etihad Stadium) have more goals at a single venue in the competition’s history.
Liverpool’s early dominance paid off on 15 minutes as Diaz bundled the ball home.
The Reds were awarded a penalty which Salah dispatched to make it 2-0 on 38 minutes as they responded to Arsenal’s victory at Leicester City on Saturday.
Matheus Cunha reduced the deficit in the 67th minute as the Brazilian received a pass, feinted a shot on the edge of the box and then curled in a lovely strike with his left foot.
Unlike in the Merseyside derby where they conceded in stoppage in the 2-2 draw with Everton, Liverpool this time held on to secure the three points.
