Super Eagles stars Ola Aina, Wilfred Ndidi and Taiwo Awoniyi were all involved on Sunday as Nottingham Forest missed the opportunity to move into the UEFA Champions League positions in the English Premier League table.
Forest, who had Aina from the start and Awoniyi as a late substitute, conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 home draw against Leicester City, who featured Ndidi from the start.
Argentina midfielder Facundo Buonanotte scored with eight minutes left on the clock to earn a point for the Foxes, who are already relegated.
Goals from striker Chris Wood and midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White had turned the game in Forest’s favour, after Conor Coady had given the Foxes the lead in the first half with his first Premier League goal for the club.
Victory would have enabled Forest to take advantage of Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to fellow Champions League hopefuls Newcastle earlier in the day.
But a draw leaves Aina, Awoniyi and their teammates in seventh spot, one point behind fifth-placed Chelsea.
In other Premier League fixtures on Saturday, UEFA Europa League finalists Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur continued their dreadful domestic form with home defeats.
United were beaten 2-0 at Old Trafford by West Ham, with Thomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen netting in each half, while Crystal Palace defeated Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with the same score courtesy of an Eberechi Eze brace.
Manchester United and Tottenham, who meet in the Europa League final on May 21 in Bilbao with the trophy and Champions League ticket on offer, are 16th and 17th respectively in the Premier League standings.
