Manchester City came from a goal down to beat Chelsea 3-1 in Saturday’s English Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea have now failed to beat Manchester City in their last 11 encounters since the 2021 UEFA Champions League final.
It was not a good start for City and their debuting centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov whose error early in the game gifted Noni Madueke the opener.
But the champions rallied back to claim the win thanks to goals from Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
The win took Manchester City to fourth place in the table as they overtook Chelsea, who fell to sixth spot.
Chelsea took the lead just three minutes into the game after an error by Khusanov was punished by Madueke who rolled the ball into an empty net off Nicolas Jackson’s assist.
In the 34th minute, City’s new signing Omar Marmoush had the ball in the back of the net but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The hosts eventually drew level three minutes from half-time through Gvardiol who tapped into an empty net after the initial effort was stopped by Chelsea goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez.
Haaland put Manchester City in front in the 68th minute as he received a long pass from Ederson and curled into the net with Sanchez way off his line.
With three minutes left Foden added the third goal as he received a flick from Haaland, raced towards the Chelsea area and slotted past Sanchez.
