Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi played a starring role for Fulham on Sunday, helping them to secure a 1-1 English Premier League draw at Tottenham Hotspur.
Also on Sunday, Manchester United and Chelsea recorded big wins, the Red Devils thrashing Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford and the Blues easing past Aston Villa 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Nigeria international Iwobi set up Fulham’s equaliser at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Tom Cairney scored a brilliant goal in the 67th minute off the former Arsenal star’s pass, 13 minutes after Brennan Johnson had given the hosts the lead.
It is Iwobi’s third assist in 13 Premier League appearances this season, having also scored three goals.
Fulham are 10th in the table, one point and three spots below Spurs.
At Old Trafford, Manchester United turned on the style and earned their first league victory under new manager Ruben Amorim, with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, who has Nigerian heritage but plays for the Netherlands, each scoring twice.
Cote d’Ivoire wing-back Amad Diallo and captain Bruno Fernandes also contributed a brace of assists each as United climbed up to ninth and Everton stay 15th, just two points away from the relegation zone.
It is the first time Manchester United will win a Premier League match by at least four goals since 2021, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea extended Aston Villa’s winless run to eight games in all competitions as Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer struck.
With the victory, Enzo Maresca’s side rose to third in the table, level on points with second-placed Arsenal, while Villa are 12th.
