Super Eagles stars Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi featured for Nottingham Forest who gave their UEFA Champions League qualification ambitions a lift with a 4-2 victory at Ipswich Town in Saturday’s English Premier League encounter.
Aina played for 90 minutes while Awoniyi replaced Chris Wood with nine minutes left on the clock.
Forest remain in third place and Ipswich are 18th in the league table.
The Reds scored three goals in six minutes thanks to a brace from Anthony Elanga (37, 41 minutes) and a goal from Nikola Milenkovic (35 minutes).
Jens-Lys Cajuste pulled a goal back for Ipswich in the 82nd minute before Jota Silva made it 4-1 three minutes from time.
Ipswich then got their second goal in the 93rd minute through George Hurst.
At St Mary’s Stadium, Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu was on target for struggling Southampton who lost 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 30-year-old Nigeria international, who came on in the 46th minute, found the back of the net in the 75th minute for his third goal in 19 league matches. Wolves had raced to a 2-0 after a Jorgen Strand Larsen brace.
Also in action for Southampton was Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo who was substituted off in stoppage time.
Southampton remain in the bottom spot while Wolves are in the 17th position.
At the Etihad, Manchester City dropped points again after drawing 2-2 with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Pep Guardiola’s men are now fifth, while Brighton are seventh.
