The Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for the appointment of Aliyu Zubairu as the head coach of the Flying Eagles.
El-Kanemi head coach Zubairu succeeds Ladan Bosso as the head coach of the men’s U-20 national team.
The appointment of Zubairu, who led El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to win the President Federation Cup at the expense of Abia Warriors in Lagos in June, takes immediate effect, according to the NFF.
Zubairu’s first challenge is to put together and prepare a team for the WAFU B U-20 Championship, scheduled for October/November in Togo.
The tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
