Sevilla have confirmed that Super Eagles forward Chidera Ejuke has suffered a hamstring injury.
Ejuke was replaced at half-time of the club’s 5-1 defeat to Barcelona in LaLiga on Sunday night.
Speaking after the game, Sevilla coach García Pimienta confirmed the news about the Nigeria international.
“Ejuke is injured, he has felt a twinge in his hamstring and we will see how long it lasts,” he said at the post-match press conference.
The 26-year-old won the Sevilla Player of the Month award for September after impressive performances, including scoring the winner in the 2-1 victory over Real Valladolid in a league clash.
After two years of absence in the senior national team, he earned a recall this month for the back-to-back 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya, although he did not feature in the first leg which the Eagles won 1-0 in Uyo.
Nigeria boycotted the scheduled return leg four days later over the fiasco that played out after the team flew into the North African country.
Ejuke is a doubt for Nigeria’s next game in the qualifiers against Benin Republic on November 11.
