Chidera Ejuke has expressed delight over his return to the Super Eagles.
The Sevilla winger last featured for the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
However, he is back into the reckoning once again, following his impressive performances for Sevilla this season, earning a place in Austin Eguavoen’ 23-man squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifying double-header against Libya.
“I’m just happy to be here, I’m really excited to be back. It’s always like a good feeling to get the opportunity to represent your country and also to see some of the colleagues you haven’t seen in a while. It’s also nice. I’m really excited to be here,” he told NFF TV.
The 26-year-old joined Sevilla as a free agent in the summer after his contract at Russian club CSKA Moscow expired. He scored the winning goal for his club against Real Valladolid on September 24, and was named Player of the Month.
“The more you are performing, the more you are going to get this kind of opportunity, so I will say yes,” he replied when asked if his club form was what earned him a return to the Super Eagles.
“I Always have a good time. The experiences have always been good like in the national team, with the games I’ve had opportunities to play as well, it’s always nice and I always love it, always love representing the country. Whenever I get the opportunity, I just want to do my best and enjoy football.”
The winger said he is looking forward to a win in the first leg of the qualifiers against the North Africans in Uyo on Friday.
