Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed factors that motivated his decision to join Galatasaray on loan last summer.
Osimhen ended up with the Super Lig giants until the end of the season from Napoli after a stormy summer transfer window filled with interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Al-Ahli.
“To be honest, there were a lot of players I idolized and followed since I was little,” Osimhen said according to NTVSpor, in an interview with Galatasaray’s YouTube channel.
“Drogba is one of them. Onyekuru and Etebo played here before, I knew the atmosphere was good, I saw it.
“I actually looked online but what I saw in reality was much more magnificent, what I saw here was great.
“It’s magnificent, what I saw here was great. I’m not saying it because I’m a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively.”
The 25-year-old hailed the passion of Galatasaray fans, with whom he has built a connection since his arrival.
“I’m not saying this because I’m a Galatasaray player and I played here, but when I look at it objectively, the fans make this place incredible,” Osimhen stated.
“I’ve always said this and I’ll continue to say it, the fans are very passionate and this place is a very big family.
“It’s really incredible that this place has become an incredibly big club thanks to the fans.”
The Nigeria international opened his goal account for Galatasaray last weekend, scoring a brace in the 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa in the league at the RAMS Park. Before then, he had registered three assists in three matches.
