Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers’ strike against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League has been voted Rangers men’s Goal of the Month for January.
“It was an excellent take-and-finish from the striker in the UEFA Europa League as he got on the end of a long pass from James Tavernier,” the Scottish club stated.
“Dessers used his body intelligently to nudge defender Harry Maguire out of the flight of the ball and after a lovely touch on his left-side he swept the ball into the bottom corner.”
Despite Dessers scoring on the night, United went on to win the game 2-1 thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ stoppage time goal.
Rangers went on to qualify for the round of 16 after finishing in eighth place in the 36-team league table.
It was the Nigeria international’s second goal in eight appearances in the Europa League this season.
The 30-year-old has scored 15 goals, provided four assists in 36 matches in all competitions this campaign for the Gers.
He will hope to add to his tally when Rangers host Queen’s Park in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup on Sunday.
