Scans at AC Milan have revealed Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze did not sustain any serious injury while on national team assignment in Nigeria.
Chukwueze was among the 23 players invited for this month’s back-to-back 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Libya.
The winger came from the bench in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory over the North Africans at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo last Friday.
According to Sempremilan, the 25-year-old returned to Italy early from international duty due to fears that he had sustained a hamstring injury.
The publication said Milan were worried as head coach Paulo Fonseca was planning to start Christian Pulisic from the bench this weekend due to work load and hand Chukwueze his third start of the season in eight matches when the Rossoneri host Udinese in Serie A.
However, Pulisic could still get Fonseca’s nod to start in the game, depending on when he returns from the United States where he was also involved with his national team.
Chukwueze is enduring another difficult season at Milan, reminiscent of his 2023/2024 debut campaign, in which he struggled to make impact.
He scored only one goal and bagged three assists in 24 league matches for the club. This term, he has not registered any goal-involment in eight matches.
