Chelsea pair Cole Palmer and Enzo Maresca have been voted English Premier League Player of the Month and Manager of the Month respectively for September.
England international Palmer led the Premier League for both goals and goal involvements in September, scoring five goals and making one assist in four appearances.
Four of his goals came in one devastating 21-minute period against Brighton, as he became the first player in history to score four times in the first half of a Premier League match.
Palmer has won the Player of the Month award for a second time, with his first coming in April 2024, meaning he has won two of the last three available awards.
The 22-year-old topped an eight-man shortlist after the public’s votes on the EA SPORTS website were combined with those of a panel of football experts.
Harvey Barnes, Luis Diaz, Gabriel, Ryan Gravenberch, Raul Jimenez, Alex McNeil and Ollie Watkins were the other nominated players.
Palmer’s boss Maresca won the Manager of the Month award, beating among others Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Liverpool’s Arne Slot to the prize.
Maresca has won the award in only his second month as a Premier League head coach after leading Chelsea through September unbeaten, winning three matches and drawing the other.
After a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, Maresca’s team got back-to-back away wins against Bournemouth and West Ham United, before finishing the month with a 4-2 victory over Brighton.
Chelsea scored a competition-high nine goals across the month, and Maresca becomes the first Blues head coach to win the award since Thomas Tuchel, who claimed it in October 2021.
The 44-year-old Italian topped a five-man shortlist that included Arteta, Unai Emery, Marco Silva and Slot, claiming the award after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.
