New Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle was in Ikenne-Remo in Ogun State to meet with players of the B team on Tuesday.
The former Mali international and head coach was presented as the Super Eagles boss by the Nigeria Football Federation on Monday in Abuja following his surprise appointment last week.
Chelle, along with the Technical Director of the NFF, Austin Eguavoen, the man he replaced, arrived at the Remo Stars Training Institute camp of the Super Eagles B after flying from Abuja on Tuesday morning.
During Chelle’s presentation on Monday, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau had clarified that Chelle will only be with the Eagles B in a supervisory role, while Daniel Ogunmodede, Fidelis Ilechukwu and Olatunji Baruwa, who qualified the team for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) will remain essentially in charge of the team’s preparation and participation at the tournament.
Meanwhile, the CHAN draw will take place in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday evening even after the Confederation of African Football postponed the tournament from February to August.
Super Eagles Team Administrator, Dayo Enebi Achor, is in Nairobi ahead of the ceremony that will be held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre from 6pm Nigerian time.
CAF’s Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu, will be assisted at the draw by Uganda’s Hassan Wasswa, Tanzanian Mrisho Ngasa and Kenyan legend McDonald Mariga.
The names of a total of 19 countries, joint-hosts Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, as well as Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Algeria, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar will be in the pots for the draw ceremony.
